The Bay Area is rich in local radicals, and most of them have taken a turn at the microphone of the renowned Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair. Here's an all-star collection from the speakers' corner of the bookfair: Jello Biafra, ex-frontman for the punk band Dead Kennedys; Beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti; author Christian Parenti ("Lockdown America"); author/punk rocker Craig O'Hara ("The Philosophy of Punk"); anti-prison activist/author Ruth Wilson Gilmore ("Golden Gulag"); and Emma Goldman Papers curator Barry Pateman cut loose on anarchism, art, prisons, politics and more, in a relaxed setting.

Pompeii 99 (band) - Pompeii 99 were a post punk band formed in Los Angeles in 1981. They released one single and one album before the key members (Valor Kand, Gitane Demone, and David Glass) joined Christian Death and eventually continued with the Christian Death name after all the original members of Christian Death had left the group.

Hero (song) - Hero was the 2002 smash hit single from Superchick, a Christian Alternative Rock/Christian Pop Punk band. It reached Number One on Christian Rock charts and enjoyed play on both Christian and mainstream radio stations.

Copyright (band) - Copyright was a Canadian alternative rock band, active in the 1990s. The band was launched by vocalist Tom Anselmi and guitarist Christian Thorvaldson, former members of the shortlived and controversial punk rock band Slow, with new bassist Eric Marxsen and drummer Pete Bourne.
