German Punk Band

Green Day

Green Day
California punk trio Green Day took a grunge-obsessed music scene by complete surprise in 1994 with their major-label debut album "Dookie," which jump-started a new punk revolution and went on to sell well over 10 million copies. Six albums and 15 years after the group was formed, Green Day had become an institution credited with inspiring a host of like-minded bands, and lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tr? Cool were known as the Godfathers of Pop-Punk. The band, however, wasn?t content to sit back on their elder statesmen punk laurels, and instead pulled a fast one in the form of a wildly ambitious punk rock opera entitled American Idiot. The album hit the charts at no less than Number One, garnering major Grammy recognition, unanimous critical acclaim, and multi-platinum sales worldwide. Here's their full story, from the band's humble teenage beginnings focused around the Berkeley punk rock haven to full-fledged rock stardom.

From the DOA house on Vancouver's Gore St. to San Francisco's Mabuhay Gardens, and all stops in between, punk rock temples mundane and mythical appear as they were in their festering heyday Guilty of Everything is testimony to the invaluable, unforgettable days that put the West Coast and Vancouver on the punk rock map.

Consisting of Regula Sing (vocals), Marlene Marder (guitar), Klaudia Schiff (bass) and Lislot Ha (drums) and combining spirited thrash (later modified) with unconventional vocals and lyrics (their mix of adopted English and their native German adding to their charm), the band recorded a number of successful singles prior to Sing's departure, followed by further successes under its subsequent name in the early 1980s.

Slime (band) - Slime was a German punk rock band, founded in 1979 and disbanded in 1994.
